6 Films We Want To See Get An All-Female Cast

With Sony announcing a Ghostbusters remake with an all-female cast (and everyone kicking up a fuss about it), here are 6 other films we’d like to see with a new kick-ass women line-up.

Elementary gave us a taste of what the classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story would be like with more women involved but we want more. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law… it’s definitely time for an awesome female pairing. We’re thinking Romola Garai and Rebecca Hall would do the detective duo justice.

The Expendables

There have been rumours about this remake for a while now but it seems we’re finally going to get a female Expendables with producer Avi Lerner saying at last year’s Cannes: “We’re going to do it at the beginning of next year”. Both Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana are reportedly in talks and we’ve got a few suggestions of our own, such as Meryl Streep, Demi Moore and Jada Pinkett Smith.

The Hangover

You think Bradley Cooper and his crew got themselves into a mess in The Hangover? Try doing it all in heels. Our party antics definitely have the making of a blockbuster movie and we’d love to see a cast of oh-so-cool women dealing with the aftermath of one hell of a night out. Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan did a stellar job in Bachelorette, so maybe this is just the thing for them.

Ocean’s Eleven

Ocean’s Eleven is a great movie but we couldn’t help feeling like it could have benefited from more women being involved. If Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones proved anything in Ocean’s Twelve, it’s that they can break the law with the best of them, so why not go for an all-female Ocean’s Fourteen? We can totally see Dollhouse’s Eliza Dushku leading a team of intelligent and sophisticated female criminals in a full-on action heist.

The Magnificent Seven

Thanks to A Millions Ways To Die In The West and Django Unchained, westerns are as hot as ever, and we’d love to see more women in the genre. It could be time to revive an old classic with an all-female cast. Yep, we’re talking about The Magnificent Seven. Just imagine Charlize Theron, Julia Roberts and 5 other amazing actresses taking the law into their own hands in the wild west.

James Bond

Ok, so this one’s a bit of cheat as it doesn’t really call for an all-female cast overhaul but isn’t it about time we saw a female 007 take to the big screen? We can totally see Scarlett Johansson in a stylish suit with a sleek gun and a gadget for everything. She might not be British but she’s already proved she can kick ass in The Avengers and Lucy.
